Tottenham are preparing to offload Kevin Wimmer and replace him with either Swansea’s Alfie Mawson or Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the London giants are ready to “ship out” Wimmer, 24, two years after his £5million transfer from German club Koln.

The Mirror report that Spurs have quoted interested clubs a fee of £20million for the Austria centre-back, which would represent  profit of £15million.

It is said that manager Mauricio Pochetino has been keeping a close eye on English duo Mawson and Ben Gibson as possible replacements but first want to find a buyer for Wimmer to ensure they have the money in place.

Interest in the Spurs defender is there from Southampton and a number of Bundesliga clubs.

Swansea’s Mawson has emerged on Tottenham’s radar after a fine debut season in the Premier League following his transfer from Barnsley lasts summer.

Gibson also impressed last season in the top flight despite Boro’s relegation to the Championship.

Tottenham’s senior centre-back options are Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, while the versatile Eric Dier is also frequently used in defence.
