Premier League bid incoming for Brentford’s Jota

|

Brentford midfielder Jota will be missing from his side’s friendly against Aldershot with the club expecting a bid from a Premier League side, according to Sky Sports News HQ.

The broadcaster claim on their website that the 26-year-old held a meeting with the management team at the Bees, including head coach Dean Smith, to discuss the incoming bid, and it was agreed he would not take part in Friday’s match.

Sky report that Premier League quartet Newcastle, Everton, West Ham and Huddersfield have all shown interest in Jota, although it awaits to be seen whether the proposed bid is from any of the four sides.

The Spanish midfielder, who can play on either flank or in the centre of the park, has had an £8million price tag placed on his head and the club are adamant that he will not be leaving for any less, despite him entering the final year of his contract.

Brentford have held talks about potentially extending his time at the club, but are also ready to allow his contract to run out if no Premier League sides meet their valuation.

He arrived at Griffin Park from Spanish side Celta Vigo in the summer of 2014, before personal reasons saw him depart on a year and a half loan back to Spain with former side Eibar.

However, Brentford recalled him in January of this year, and he shone for the Bees, scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances to draw the attention of top flight clubs.
