Full-back star Kyle Walker has thanked the Tottenham supporters, teammates and club itself in a heartfelt Instagram following his departure to Manchester City on Friday.

The 27-year-old moved to Pep Guardiola’s side on Friday, which the BBC report to be worth an initial £45million with add-ons which could make him the most expensive English player ever.

It was an expected move following long reports of a fall out with manager Mauricio Pochettino which saw him ultimately dropped for Kieran Trippier at the back end of the campaign and supporters have largely given a mixed reaction to his exit.

But, Walker, who is an active social media user paid tribute to the fans who had supported him for eight years via his official Instagram account on Friday, stating that they had given him many happy memories.

Walker made the move to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2009 from Sheffield United alongside Kyle Naughton for a combined £9million fee.

He has since gone on to play 229 times for the north London club and was a key part of Pochettino’s progressive team.

But, the Argentine manager will now be searching for a replacement for the 27-time England international and the £45million fee has certainly added to his transfer kitty.
