Tottenham have sent a strong message to Manchester United that they will not entertain any offers for Eric Dier amid speculation they are braced for an astonishing £60million bid, according to Football London.

The Trinity Mirror-owned football site claim that Spurs are unmoved in the face of concerted interest in the versatile Dier, 23, and their stance will not be changed even by the enormous sum that United are willing to play to land the player.

Football London report that Tottenham have “sent a strong message” to Premier League giants United and other Premier League clubs that they will not listen to any bids for the England international and will not sell him at any price.

This comes after the Mirror report that United are preparing a final take-it-or-leave-it offer of £60million for Dier, which would demolish the record set for English player when Kyle Walker joined Manchester City last week for £54million including add-ons.

However, Mauricio Pochettino sanctioned the exit of Walker and has a different stance on Dier, who can play a number of different positions and is considered crucial to the manager’s long-term plans.

Since joining from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2014, the Englishman has been a virtual ever-present in the team, whether slotting into central midfield, centre-back or, even, full-back.

Pochettino is a huge admirer of a player he regards as being pivotal to his young and vibrant team, which finished second in last season’s Premier League with a club-record points tally of 86.
