Tottenham must try and attempt to hijack Southampton’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Luciano Vietto during the summer transfer window.
Sky Sports recently reported that the Saints are currently holding discussions with the La Liga side over a potential deal to land the 23-year-old this summer.
The Argentine has been unable to secure a place as a regular starter since joining the side in the Spanish capital two years ago with Atletico manager Diego Simeone preferring to deploy Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres up front.
Vietto was sent out on loan last season to La Liga side Sevilla in the January transfer window which indicates that they will be willing to let the striker leave the club this summer so Spurs should do everything within their power to sign him.
The forward has three years remaining on his contract with Atletico but he is unlikely to be part of the first-team plans next season.
