Marseille have secured the signing of Clinton N’Jie from Tottenham for £6million, according to the Evening Standard.

The regional newspaper claim that the winger, 23, has completed a permanent transfer to the Ligue 1 outfit after spending the 2016/17 season on loan.

The Standard report that Marseille have “already done business” with Spurs this summer on the N’Jie deal as they target the capture of a second White Hart Lane French flop in Moussa Sisskoko.

It is said that Tottenham are willing to allow Sissoko to leave in the current window and the French big guns hope to come to an arrangement before the end of next month, although they would prefer an initial loan deal in the same way as they agreed with N’Jie.

Intriguingly, there has been no official announcement from either Spurs or Marseille that Cameroon international N’Jie has ended his two-year spell on the books of the English club.

The player has been photographed in pre-season training with the southern France side, including taking part in rafting exercises on a team-building trip.

The lack of an announcement suggests that the paperwork has not yet been complete on the transfer even though it appears that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has decided not to trigger a recall clause in the loan contract, which will allow Marseille to proceed with converting the temporary deal into a permanent one.

N’Jie joined Spurs from Lyon in the summer of 2015 after an impressive Ligue 1 campaign in which he had scored seven goals and supplied eight assists.

But N’Jie could not make the same impact at White Hart Lane as a combination of injury and poor form restricted him to just 14 first-team appearances in a forgettable debut season.

He got more game time at the Stade Velodrome last season, with 23 appearances in all competitions yielding four goals and a single assist.
