Newcastle United want youngster Freddie Woodman to spend next season in the Scottish Premiership, according to a Sun report.

On page 63 of the Sun on Sunday’s July 2 edition, it is said the Toon are keen on sending the 20-year-old goalkeeper on loan to a club in the Scottish top-flight next season.

The newspaper claims Kilmarnock are interested in signing Woodman, after he impressed manager Lee McCulloch while he was at the club on loan last season.

Woodman spent the second half of the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Killie, and he played 15 league and cup games for the club.

He joined the Toon’s academy in 2013 from Crystal Palace, and he has since risen through the various youth sides, as well as being farmed out on loan to the likes of Hartlepool United and Crawley Town.

The 20-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the first team, but he has made 29 appearances across all competitions for the club’s Under-23s outfit.

Woodman was one of the hero’s of England Under-20s World Cup win earlier this summer, as he saved a penalty in the final which his side won 1-0.

He also won the competition’s Golden Glove award for the most clean sheets, and he has now been capped by the Under-20s side on 10 occasions.
