Newcastle United are the favourites to sign Leicester City striker Islam Slimani, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet have placed the newly-promoted Premier League side at 4/1 on Wednesday afternoon to land the 29-year-old during the summer transfer window.
The Magpies are currently a long way ahead of a host of sides who are also credited with an interest in signing the Algerian this summer with his former side Sporting Lisbon placed at 5/1 and both Premier League sides West Bromwich Albion and West Ham United at 12/1.
This follows up from the story in Le Buteur which reported that the Tyneside club have entered the race to sign Slimani this summer.
Newcastle will need to be able to score goals next season on their return to the Premier League and Slimani is certainly a player could can provide them with an attacking outlet.
The Algerian international signed for the Foxes at the start of last season but he endured a tough debut campaign in England as he suffered a number of injuries which kept him on the sidelines for a lengthy period.
The dynamic striker still managed to contribute with nine goals and five assists in all competitions last season as Leicester failed to replicate their title-winning campaign and finished in 12th place.
