Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has told the club that he wants a transfer to Manchester United to be secured by Monday night, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Serbian enforcer is desperate to secure a move to Old Trafford, despite interest from the likes of Juventus and Arsenal, and wants a deal completed over the next 48 hours.

Matic, along with Diego Costa, has been left behind from the club’s pre-season tour in China and Singapore, as the wantaway pair look to secure moves from the club.

They Sun reports that the Blues would rather offload the 28-year-old midfielder to the Italian giants ahead of their Premier League rivals, but the player himself wants to reunite with former boss Jose Mourinho.

He is also keen on United’s reported offer of a four-year deal of £150,000-a-week, with the contract length playing a big part in his decision making.

However, Chelsea have set an asking price of £40million on the Serbian’s head, the same amount that was spent on securing fellow midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.

Matic, a 31-cap international, has won three Premier League titles during his two stints at Stamford Bridge, and has made 154 appearances across all competitions.

He played a key role in their title success last season, making 35 out of a possible 38 league appearances as he scored once and managed to provide eight assists for his team mates.
