Manchester United are keen to secure the signing of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic before the Italian club jet off on their pre-season tour, according to the Guardian.

The newspaper report on their website that Inter will be setting off on Tuesday for a series of matches in China, and that the Reds want to have completed the 28-year-old’s signing by then.

The Croatian winger is said to be valued at £49million by his current club, but at £40million by Jose Mourinho at United, and as a result the agreed transfer fee is expected to be around the £45million mark.

The versatile midfielder, who can operate on either flank or in a central attacking role, was an important player for Inter last season, scoring 11 goals and chipping in with 12 assists in his 41 appearances across all competitions.

His versatility is said to appeal to Mourinho, who has doubts over his current attacking options out wide in the form of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial.

Perisic is also an experienced Croatian international, with 56 caps and 16 goals under his belt for his country.

He joined Inter from German side Wolfsburg back in the summer of 2015 and has gone on to make 79 appearances for the Italian giants, hitting home 20 goals and providing his team mates with 18 assists.
