Manchester City have reached an agreement with Brazilian outfit Vasco de Gama to sign highly-rated midfielder Douglas Luiz this summer, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that the Manchester club will pay £10.7million for the 19-year-old having tracked him since last year.

The report claims that the Brazilian teenager will be immediately loaned out to newly-promoted La Liga side Girona in whom City are set to acquire a 50 per cent stake.

The midfielder is likely to get more first-team action under his belt with the Spanish side due to the amount of midfielder options available in the City squad.

This will surely come as a relief to the Manchester club who are set to miss out on a summer target after reliable journalist Jonathan Johnson posted on his official Twitter account that Dani Alves has decided to join French giants Paris Saint-Germain over the Premier League side.

The teenager enjoyed a decent campaign with the Brazilian side last season, making a total of 11 appearances in all competitions and scoring one goal.

The midfielder produced some impressive performances and his contribution was rewarded as he was named in the 2017 team of the year last season.

Luiz has also made eight international appearances for the Brazil Under-20 national team since making his debut last year.

City will be hopeful that the teenager can have the same impact as new Brazilian recruit Gabriel Jesus when he finally manages to break into the first-team in the near-future.
