Newcastle have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Joe Hart from Manchester City this summer after missing out on Willy Caballero.

The Daily Mail claims the Toon have asked Man City about the England international’s availability following his loan with Serie A outfit Torino during the 2016-17 campaign.

Rafa Benitez has turned to Hart after missing out on Caballero as well as former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, as he continues to look for a new goalkeeper despite having plenty of options between the sticks.

As well as first-team duo Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot, Tim Krul and Freddie Woodman are returning from loans while Matz Sels has returned to Belgium on loan with Anderlecht.

With that in mind, This Is Futbol believes Newcastle must prioritise improving other areas of the squad such as left-back and a winger before signing a goalkeeper and should target three other Man City fringe playes instead.
