Liverpool have tabled a £15million bid for Lyon centre-back Emanuel Mammana, according to Sport Review.

The sports news site claim that the Merseysiders have lodged the offer this week and are ready to hand the Argentina international, 21, a five-year, £54,000-a-week contract.

Sport Review report that Mammana is keen to make a move to Liverpool but wants his club to agree a fee before he formally discusses the terms of a contract.

It is said that Anfield manager has turned his attention to signing the defender as he looks to bolster his backline ahead of the new season.

Mammana joined Ligue 1 big hitters Lyon last summer from Argentine club River Plate and made 25 appearances in all competitions, 17 of which came in Ligue 1.

Despite not being a mainstay of the French team in his debut campaign, he has already been capped once by his country and is regarded as a hugely promising defender in his homeland.

Liverpool have been linked with a number of players during the transfer window, although their only two signings to date are Mohamed Salah for a club-record £39million and Dominic Solanke from Chelsea for a fee to be decided by a tribunal.

The Merseysiders are said to be strongly pursuing Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk and RB Leipzig central midfielder Naby Keita.
