Thomas Christiansen must bring Newcastle outcast Grant Hanley to Leeds in order to solve his problem position at centre-back this summer.

Scotland international Hanley has plummeted down the pecking order under Rafa Benitez and is currently sitting behind the likes of captain Jamaal Lascelles, Chancel Mbemba and Ciaran Clark.

Now, the Toon have completed their second signing of the summer in French defender Florian Lejeune from La Liga outfit Eibar for a fee of £8.7million, seemingly leaving Hanley with no other choice but to leave this summer.

The Evening Chronicle claim that Rafa Benitez is looking to offload Hanley this summer, and Leeds should look to take advantage of that by offering him regular first-team football at Elland Road.

Leeds have already completed three senior signings this summer in playmaker Mateusz Klich, speed machine Hadi Sacko and German goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald, and Christiansen is now expected to add defenders to his squad.

This Is Futbol analyses three reasons why former Blackburn defender Hanley would be the perfect signing at Elland Road as Christiansen looks to go one better than Garry Monk and gain promotion to the Premier League.
