OPINION

Rafa Benitez would be wasting his time with the signing of Hull City’s Tom Huddlestone and should instead look to tempt three of the midfielder’s Tigers teammates to join Newcastle.

The Sun claims the Toon have joined the race to sign the 30-year-old, with West Brom also said to be keen on the four-time England international following Hull’s relegation to the Championship.

The report claims interested parties will have to spend £2million to sign the former Tottenham star this summer, with a relegation clause in his contract allowing him to leave for such a small price.

However, Huddlestone showed last season that he was on the verge of decline as he entered his thirties and began to lose a yard of pace in the middle of the park.

This Is Futbol believes Newcastle would be signing Huddlestone at the wrong time he would prove a hindrance than a help but should look to sign three other Hull stars instead.
