Sigurdsson wants Everton move

|

Gylfi Sigurddson wants to quit Swansea for Everton and a transfer this week is now looking likely, according to the Mail.

The newspaper claim that the attacking midfielder favours a move to Goodison Park ahead of rival Premier League clubs and is keen to leave the Welsh side for a fresh challenge.

The Mail report that Ronald Koeman will return to the negotiating table with a fourth bid of £32million for Sigurdsson that could be enough to seal the deal and enable him to join the Everton revolution.

The Merseysiders have been the stand-out spenders in the summer window and went some way to placating supporters disappointed at the loss of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for a potential £90million by making Wayne Rooney their sixth major summer signing on Sunday.

With Rooney valued at £10million, Everton’s summer spending has reached £107million and that would rocket to £139million were Swansea to accept the latest mooted bid for Sigurdsson.

The Icelandic is set to be the most expensive acquisition in Everton history and his arrival would further demonstrate the ambition of the club to break into the Champions League elite.

Sigurdsson is at the peak of his powers and widely regarded as one of the most creative and consistently effective players in his position in the Premier League.

He scored nine goals and supplied 13 assists from 38 league matches last season, with only Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne setting up more goals.

The former Tottenham player is in line to become Everton’s seventh major summer signing following Rooney, Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Henry Onyekuru, Sandro Ramires and Michael Keane.
