Everton’s transfer blitz is set to continue with the sale of winger Aiden McGeady to Sunderland, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim in its Sunday pint edition (2 July, page 63) that the Republic of Ireland international is heading out of Goodison Park after spending the last 18 months out on loan.

The Sun report that McGeady has been given the green light to become the first Sunderland signing of new manager Simon Grayson.

It is said that the wide attacker, who has 12 months remaining on his £45,000-a-week Everton contract, could move to the Stadium of Light either permanently or on loan.

McGeady is surplus to requirements at Everton, where there has already been hectic transfer activity in the early weeks of the summer.

Jordan Pickford has been signed from Sunderland, playmaker Davy Klaassen has joined from Ajax and a deal was completed for Henry Onyekuru from KAS Eupen on Friday.

Moreover, it has been widely reported that Everton will announce the new arrivals of defender Michael Keane and striker Sandro Ramirez at the start of next week.

McGeady is well known to Grayson after his season-long loan at Preston in 2016-17, which yielded eight goals and nine assists from 34 Championship matches for the 89-time international.
