Tottenham have confirmed the departure of young goalkeeper Luke McGee to League One side Portsmouth on a permanent deal.

The Lilywhites confirmed the transfer of the 21-year-old, widely regarded as a rising star of shot-stopping, on both their official website and on their official Twitter account on Wednesday morning:

Meanwhile Portsmouth confirmed that they had secured the young shot stopper on a three-year contract via their own official Twitter account:

McGee never appeared for the senior side at White Hart Lane or Wembley during his time at the club, although he did appear on the bench for Europa League, Premier League and FA Cup games, standing in as deputy for the likes of Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm.

He spent nearly the entirety of last season on loan to Portsmouth’s fellow League One side Peterborough, where he was firmly the first choice between the sticks.

He ended up making 45 appearances across all competitions for the Posh, as he found himself on the bench for just two fixtures after arriving, picking up the Players’ Player of the Season award come the end of the campaign.

A former England Under-17 international, his departure leaves Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino with just Lloris and Vorm as his senior goalkeeping options, while Thomas Glover is an option from their under-21 squad.
