Chelsea have secured a deal which will see midfielder Marco van Ginkel join Dutch side PSV Eindhoven on a season-long loan.

The Eredivisie outfit confirmed that the two sides had come to an agreement via their official website, as well as on the club’s official Twitter account:

The tweet translates to: “PSV and Chelsea have reached an agreement on a transition from Marco van Ginkel.”

The move will see the 24-year-old midfielder rejoin the club he was on loan at for the second half of last season, making 15 appearances and scoring seven goals.

The Holland international has been with Chelsea since signing from Vitesse Arnhem in the summer of 2013, but despite his four years at the club, he has made just four appearances for the senior side, the last coming in September 2013 in a League Cup tie with Swindon Town.

Instead he has found himself shipped out on loan for all or part of the last three seasons, while a ruptured cruciate ligament and another knee injury have both meant he has missed significant playing time.

Despite spending so long away from his parent club, he has managed to impress enough to earn six caps for the Holland national side, earning his debut back in a friendly stalemate with Germany in 2012, while his latest appearance came in another friendly against Austria in 2016.
