Chelsea are prepared to allow central defender Kurt Zouma to leave the club on loan in the upcoming season, according to the Times.

The newspaper claims that the Premier League champions want the 22-year-old to get more minutes under his belt as he is unlikely to see much first-team action next season as the club have just completed the signing of defender Antonio Rudiger.

Zouma missed the majority of last season due to a terrible knee injury and the Blues are eager for him to improve on his fitness by allowing him to leave Stamford Bridge on a loan deal.

It is reported that the Frenchman already has offers from clubs in France, Italy and Spain but the defender is determined to remain in West London next season.

This follows up from the story in the Spanish newspaper Diario de Sevilla which reported that La Liga side Sevilla have recently been in contact with Chelsea over a potential summer move for the defender.

The player himself recently spoke to France Football and made it very clear that he wanted to be part of the Chelsea set-up for the upcoming campaign, although that now appears less likely following Rudiger’s arrival.

Since breaking into the Chelsea first-team three years ago, Zouma has made a total of 71 appearances for the Blues, contributing with four goals and three assists.

The Frenchman’s current contract at Stamford Bridge runs out in 2019.
