Chelsea have tied winger Lucas Piazon down to a two-year contract extension before giving the green light for him to spend next season on loan at Fulham.

The Blues announced on their official website and Twitter account that the paperwork has been finalised on both the Brazilian attacker’s new contract and a return to the Championship side.

Chelsea have had a busy week of transfer and contract action, with Antonio Rudiger signing from Roma at the start of the week and another big-money arrival imminent as Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to join from Monaco.

Piazon, 23, spent last season at Craven Cottage in a bid to earn first team football, and he impressed enough that the Cottagers were happy to take him on again for the upcoming campaign.

He established himself as an important member of the first team squad, making a series of starts and substitute appearances to turn out a total of 33 times across all competitions, hitting six goals and chipping in with four assists.

The two time Brazilian Under-23 international has spent much of his career out on loan, having arrived at Stamford Bridge from FC Sao Paulo back in the winter transfer window of 2012.

Stints at Malaga, Vitesse Arnhem, Eintracht Frankfurt, Reading and Fulham mean that he has only managed to earn himself three senior appearances for the Blues, with an impressive record of two assists during his 161 minutes on the pitch.

Fulham impressed in the Championship last season, finishing sixth and reaching the play-offs, where they were seen off in the semi-finals by Reading, who themselves were beaten in the final by Huddersfield.
