Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has suggested that his potential move to Chelsea could be off after tweeting a series of cryptic messages.

The 22-year-old posted a tweet on Friday evening from Heathrow airport and stated that he missed his current club Monaco after leaving just two days prior to the message.

Bakayoko has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea over the current transfer window, and has been widely reported that an agreement is in place for him to make a big-money transfer.

However, on his official Twitter account the defensive midfielder stated that Monaco was his ‘Home Sweet Home’ and after two days away from the Ligue 1 side he said that he already misses the French outfit.

The Ligue 1 playmaker also tweeted a series of emojis including planes, destination points and the flag of Monaco which could suggest that the deal is off.

The tweets appear confusing after RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi previously claimed that Antonio Conte’s side had reached a £40 million agreement with Monaco for the midfielder.

The journalist also reported that the Frenchman was understood to have passed a medical on the Friday, which was further supported when the player took a picture at the Cobham training complex and captioned it “soon”.

The move now looks to be up in the air after the tweets from the defensive midfielder, which will be of great concern to Chelsea fans who have expressed their excitement on social media at his seemingly imminent arrival.

It is understandable that Bakayoko would miss Monaco, like he stated in his tweet, as he had an incredibly successful campaign with the Ligue 1 outfit last season.

The young Frenchman was one of the key contributors to help Monaco secure the Ligue 1 title, and throughout the entire season he made a total of 51 appearances across all competition.

Bakayoko has recently suffered from a knee injury which could mean that he is out for the opening games of the season if he joins Chelsea.

However, Conte will be hoping that if he secures the star he can use his efforts throughout the clubs campaign as they aim to retain their Premier League title.
