Sampdoria have offered Arsenal £6million rising to £7.5million for Jack Wilshere, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky Sports News correspondent Kaveh Solhekol reports that the Serie A club have made an initial bid of £6million for the 25-year-old central midfielder, with a further £1.5million worth of add-ons.

Solhekol posted a message on his personal Twitter account on Monday night  making the claim.

This comes after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger cooled fears that Wilshere could leave the club this summer before his side’s friendly encounter with Western Sydney Warriors on Saturday.

However, Wilshere has entered the final year of his contract and it represents Arsenal’s last opportunity to get a sizeable fee for their injury-plagued academy product.

The 25-year-old spent the 2016-17 campaign farmed out on loan at Premier League minnows Bournemouth, where he played 27 league and cup games.

He broke into the first team at the Emirates in the summer of 2008, and he has since amassed 160 appearances across all competitions for the club, which have yielded 12 goals and 24 assists.

Wilshere was once touted as one of the most promising young players in the world, but an array of injuries have limited his development.

The Stevenage-born midfielder has been capped by England on 34 occasions, but he has not featured since the 2-1 2016 European Championships defeat to Iceland.
