Crystal Palace are eyeing up a move for Arsenal fringe defender Calum Chambers this summer, according to Sky Sports News HQ.

The sports broadcaster report on the live transfer blog on their website (17:41) that the Eagles are keen on securing a deal for the 22-year-old full-back, who is said to be valued at £20million by the Gunners.

He spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough but was unable to stop the north east side from suffering relegation.

He ended up making 27 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring twice and providing a single assist, as a foot injury ruled him out for at least ten of their fixtures.

The three-time-capped England international is not part of Arsenal’s pre-season squad for their tour in the far east, having taken part in international duty for England Under-21s in their European Championship campaign.

He appeared in every minute of the Young Lions’ four games in the competition, as they suffered a semi final defeat to Germany on penalties.

Chambers joined Arsenal from Southampton in the summer of 2014 for a fee in the region of £16million, but he has failed to nail down a spot in the first team squad.

A natural right-back who also has the ability to play in the heart of the defence, he has made 59 appearances for the club, the last of those coming in the opening match of last season’s Premier League campaign as Arsenal lost 4-3 to Liverpool.
