New Arsenal recruit Alexandre Lacazette sent Gunners fans into an absolute frenzy on social media after scoring his first ever goal for the club in a pre-season friendly against Sydney FC.

The 26-year-old scored on his club debut as Arsenal won 2-0 in their opening game of the pre-season tour in Australia on Thursday morning.

The striker was surprising left on the substitutes’ bench following his club record move to the Emirates Stadium but it did not take him long to become an instant fan favourite, scoring just 15 minutes after being substituted on.

Club captain Per Mertesacker opened the scoring in the first-half thanks to a rare acrobatic effort but it was Lacazette who stole the show with his cameo appearance.

Arsenal supporters were quick to react on social media and express their sheer delight in watching Lacazette get on the scoresheet in his first game for the club.

The Arsenal fans will be hopeful that this can be the start of things to come for the striker ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Frenchman is likely to feature in Arsenal’s second pre-season friendly on Saturday when they face Western Sydney Wanderers.

Lacazette was simply sensational for Ligue 1 outfit Lyon last season, notching up 37 goals in all competitions.
