Sevilla have contacted Aston Villa about the possibility of signing defender Jordan Amavi on a loan deal in a stunning U-turn, according to a Sky Sports Tuesday update.

The La Liga side are back in for Amavi after Spanish newspaper Diario de Sevilla which reported that the 23-year-old had failed his medical ahead a proposed permanent move to the Andalusian club.

The news prompted Villa owner Tony Xia to post on his official Twitter account that there was nothing wrong with Amavi’s fitness and claim the La Liga outfit had pulled the plug on the deal.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday afternoon (July 11, 12.05pm), Solhekol told the Sky Sports Today show that Sevilla have re-opened discussions with the Championship side over a potential temporary deal for the full-back rather than a permanent one.

The journalist reports that Villa have refused the surprise new offer from the Spanish club and they reportedly believe that they are justified in believing that Sevilla did not want to pursue the deal for the Frenchman.

Solhekol claims that Villa are far from pleased with the way the defender has been treated as the Frenchman reportedly went through fitness tests at the Midlands club and Amavi finished amongst the top four players in the squad.

The Frenchman now looks set to remain a Villa player for the new Championship campaign.

Amavi was an important part of the first-team squad last season, making a total of 36 appearances in all competitions last season.
