Steve Bruce would solve Aston Villa’s goalkeeper dilemma with the signing of Leeds veteran Rob Green amid reports that he could leave the Yorkshire giants.

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay claimed on his personal Twitter account that 37-year-old Green could leave Elland Road following the new signing of German goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald from Werder Bremen.

It is said that Championship rivals Middlesbrough and Sunderland are interested, with Garry Monk potentially looking to raid Leeds for the first time since leaving the club in May.

Former England international Green was a crucial part of Leeds’ campaign that saw them go within a whisker of qualifying for the Championship play-offs, eventually finishing in seventh place.

Now, This Is Futbol analyses three reasons why Aston Villa should throw their name into the hat in the race to sign former West Ham goalkeeper Green, with his experiences of Championship promotion still fresh in the memory and his pedigree undoubted following one of the finest seasons of his career.
