Machuca uploads Instagram image in Leeds kit

Spain-based winger Alejandro Machuca has dropped a huge hint on Instagram that he is about to be unveiled as Leeds United’s next new signing.

The Rayo Vallecano player, 19, has been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road in recent days and Spanish outlet Union Rayo reported that he had been granted permission to sign with the Championship club.

Machuca has now updated his Instagram account to make it clear that he is on the verge of being announced as a Leeds player by posting an image in which he is wearing the club’s full kit.

The picture, which was taken at the club’s Thorp Arch training headquarters yesterday (Thursday) is accompanied by the teasing message, ‘Work?’ as the teenager suggested a deal was secured with his new employers.

Machuca is now in line to be the 10th signing made by Leeds this summer and the fourth of the week as their extensive recruitment drive reaches new heights.

Leeds have completed nine signings to date, including the double Thursdaycapture of attacking midfield duo Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski as they followed Vurnon Anita, Felix Wiedwald, Mateusz Glich, Caleb Ekuban, Madger Gomes and 2016-17 loanees Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko through the entrance door.

Machuca is set to be part of United’s Under-23s squad rather than the first team as he brings an end to his three-year spell at Rayo.

Rising star Machuca was on the books of Real Madrid until 2013 and has made a sound impression at Rayo, although he is yet to play for their senior team.

He is set to join another recent Gomes, who joined from the Liverpool academy at the start of this month, in initially linking up with the development squad.

Machuca is an attacking midfielder who principally plays on the flank and usually cuts in from the right on to his favoured left foot.
