Leeds United remain in hot pursuit of forward targets Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski, according to a reliable journalist.

Radio Yorkshire correspondent Joe Rawson, who is renowned source of United transfer information, took to Twitter to deliver updates on players closely linked over the last fortnight with transfers to Elland Road.

He explained on his personal Twitter account that Leeds are “extremely confident” of sealing the signing of playmaker Saiz, 26, from Spanish second tier outfit Huesca.

Saiz has revealed on his personal Instagram account that he has set off on his holidays to Miami but Rawson reported the deal is likely to be “done” when he returns.

Rawson explained that Leeds are also trying to land right-winger Alioski from Swiss club Lugano although they face strong competition from the country’s league champions FC Basel.

Lugano’s new manager Pier Tami admitted at the weekend that he is resigned to the 25-year-old leaving but Rawson admits that the final destination of the player remains up in the air.

Leeds have set their sights on the attacking pair, who both had memorable 2016-17 domestic campaigns, as they aim to sign players who can give the team an increased goal threat from the attacking midfield positions.

The team were heavily reliant on Championship 27-goal top scorer Chris Wood last season, with their second best league tally coming from centre-back Kyle Bartley, who scored six times.
