Aston Villa fans on Twitter have posted their amazement at the club signing John Terry alongside poking fun at fierce rivals Birmingham.
The Midlands giants confirmed that the centre-back veteran had joined the Villa Park club on Monday afternoon via their official Twitter account after heavy links throughout the summer following the expiration of his Chelsea contract.

At one stage it did however look like a deal for the 36-year-old may be scuppered with the Times reporting earlier in the month that close rivals Birmingham were very confident bringing Terry in as Harry Redknapp looked to add some experience to his team.
However, Aston Villa have now won the race for the five-time Premier League winner much to the delight of the famous Villa crowd due to his ability alongside beating Birmingham to his signature.
One fan on social media made reference to the recent “floor is lava” craze by adding Birmingham’s name in, instead in a statement that Terry was keen to stay away from them, while others simply posted their delight.

Terry has had a so far colourful career in England, winning five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups and a Champions League and Europa League medal.
His next goal will be to help Aston Villa win promotion back to England’s top-flight as he approaches his 37th year.
