New Leeds United signing Hadi Sacko will be present when the first-team squad return to the club’s training ground later this week, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper claim a first group of Leeds players will be present at Thorp Arch on Friday for medical tests before returning the following Monday to undergo fitness sessions as the countdown begins to the new campaign.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that United’s players have been absent from the training headquarters since completing the 2016-17 Championship season with a 1-1 draw at Wigan on 7 May.

It is said that Sacko, who was on loan at Leeds last season and joined permanently from Sporting Lisbon two weeks ago for a reported fee of £1.7million, will be among the first teamers present as preparations are made for a first friendly on the weekend of 8 July.

A Yorkshire Evening Post report on Friday has stated that new Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen will meet the players for the first time when they undergo routine medical tests at Thorp Arch.

Christiansen was surprisingly appointed as the new manager last Thursday after a three-week search to find a successor to Garry Monk, who resigned in dramatic circumstances at the end of May.

The Denmark-born former Spain international will be unveiled to the media at a press conference on Monday after flying to England over the weekend to begin work at Elland Road.

It is likely to be some time before Christiansen meets some of the senior players, as the likes of Chris Wood are still on international duty before their summer break.
