Rangers are second favourites to sign Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

Sky Bet priced the Scottish Premiership side at 9/2 on Tuesday to land the 31-year-old Scotland international in the summer transfer window.

The team from Ibrox are currently ahead of a number of English clubs who are also keen in signing Adam with Nottingham Forest placed at 16/1 ahead of Birmingham City and Burnley who are both placed at 25/1.

Pedro Caixinha’s side are second favourites behind Championship side Cardiff City, who are currently placed at 7/2 to acquire the Scotsman’s services in the summer.

The midfielder did not enjoy a lot of game time last season as he only made 17 Premier League starts with the Potters.

Adam spent six years at Ibrox at the beginning of his footballing career.

The midfielder was sent out on loan for the first three years before his breakthrough season at the club during the 2006-07 campaign where he scored 11 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions.

His performances saw him named the Young Player of the Year at the club’s annual awards ceremony.

The following season, he played a role in helping Rangers reaching the 2008 UEFA Cup final where they eventually lost to Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg.

Adam would leave Ibrox in 2009 without winning a single major trophy with the club.
