Nottingham Forest are weighing up a move for Livingston striker Matthew Knox, according to a Daily Record report.

The newspaper claims Forest manager Mark Warburton wants to sign Knox, 17, after having a £75,000 bid turned down when he was Rangers boss.

However, it is said Livingston are demanding at least £150,000 for the youngster, who has spent time on trial at Manchester United.

Forest are looking to overhaul their squad this summer after beating the drop last term, and Warburton and sporting director Frank McParland have identified Knox as a good option.

The 17-year-old’s contract at Livingston runs until 2019, and he is their youngest ever player, having made his debut just four days after his 16th birthday.

He made six appearances in the 2016/17 season, without scoring, but he is highly-rated by his club as shown by the contract extension given to him last year.

Knox has been capped by Scotland Under-17s on two occasions, making his debut in a 2-0 European Championship qualifying defeat to Bulgaria in October 2015.

Forest finished 21st in last season’s Championship, avoiding the drop due to their superior goal difference, despite being level on points with Blackburn, who went down.

Warburton took the reins at the East Midlands giants in March of this year, upon leaving Scottish Premiership side Rangers.
