Newcastle are the second favourites to sign Arsenal defender Calum Chambers this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Bet Victor have priced the Magpies at 4/1 to bring the 22-year-old to the north east before the summer window slams shot at the end of August.
Premier League rivals Southampton are the only side who are priced lower at 5/2, while West Ham and Everton both trail behind the north east giants at 5/1 respectively.
The Daily Mail reported earlier in the summer that both Newcastle and Everton were keen to sign Chambers with the report also stating that Arsenal were looking for around £15million for their man.
The young versatile defender has been a part of the Gunners team for three years after leaving Southampton in the summer of 2014 for a fee potentially rising to £16million.
He became a regular feature in the Arsenal defence in his first season at the club, playing 36 times in total in the 2014-15 campaign and he has even played three times for the senior England team.
However, following the signing of young centre-back Rob Holding last summer he was sent out on loan to Middlesbrough for the 2016-17 season where he played 27 times in total for the relegated club.
Newcastle have only brought in Christian Atsu in a permanent deal so far this summer with the club reportedly struggling with the inflated prices and they may be looking to take Chambers on loan for the next campaign.
