Manchester United have identified England No.1 Joe Hart as a potential replacement for David De Gea, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper report that the Manchester City outcast has been named on a high-profile list of alternatives, should United allow the much-coveted De Gea to join Real Madrid this summer.

De Gea has been at the top of the wishlist for the La Liga giants over the last couple of seasons, but Zinedine Zidane’s side are looking to step up their interest even further this summer by finally landing their man.

The Mail claims that Old Trafford chief Jose Mourinho will consider allowing the Spaniard to leave the club this summer, while he has reportedly lined up Manchester City’s Hart as a potential replacement.

Hart was instantly dismissed from the Etihad by Pep Guardiola upon his arrival at City a year ago, and sought a fresh challenge with Italian Serie A outfit Torino.

The 30-year-old kept just five clean sheets from 36 appearances for the club, but is faced with a return to City upon the expiry of his loan deal.

However, Hart’s returnĀ to his parent club may only be temporary, asĀ Guardiola is pushing for a big-money deal to sign Benfica stopper Ederson, whilst Claudio Bravo is still on the books.

If made available for transfer, Manchester United could offer him an extended stay in the north west, while they are also keeping tabs on AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma and Inter Milan’s Samir Handanovic.
