Leeds United have been told they must fork out a seven-figure sum to land Norwich City midfielder Jonny Howson, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that Norwich are prepared to listen to offers for the 29-year-old this summer, after the player rejected a new deal at the club.

Howson began his career at Elland Road, and went on to make 219 appearances for the Yorkshire-club, but it has been revealed that they must offer £5million to bring him back to the club.

Norwich do not want to let their player leave on the cheap this summer, especially to a Championship rival, and it remains to be seen if Leeds will be willing to meet their valuation.

Newly-appointed manager Thomas Christiansen is looking to put his own stamp on the Leeds squad ahead of the new season, and reinforcements are likely in the coming months.

He has already added midfielder Mateusz Klich to his ranks on a three-year-deal, increasing Leeds’ central midfield roster to seven players – but some of his current talent pool could also leave.

Howson impressed as the Canaries finished eighth in the Championship last term, scoring six goals and supplying eight assists from 38 league appearances.

HITC Sport claimed a fortnight ago that Premier League outfit Burnley had made contact with Norwich over a potential deal for the midfielder.
