Pontus Jansson has revealed he is set to hold talks about his future with Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani after his wedding later this month.

The 26-year-old was a key player for Leeds last season as they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League, scoring three goals in 34 Championship appearances.

He had been signed by then-manager Garry Monk on an initial season-long loan deal from Torino last summer, but will join the club on a permanent basis on July 1.

Jansson has already agreed to sign a five-year-deal at Elland Road following his impressive loan spell, but there are still fears in the Leeds camp that the Sweden international could quit.

Sky Sports had claimed in April that Southampton had made Jansson a top target this summer, with star defender Virgil van Dijk likely to quit to a Premier League rival.

But Jansson admits that a decision on his future will be made following a face-to-face discussion with the Leeds owners, with the club resigned to another season in the second-tier.

He told Swedish publication Expressen: “It’s a new owner, new manager. So we will have a meeting now after my wedding here in late June and see what they have to say.

“I know there is interest but I really enjoy Leeds and I just hope it will be a good bet so we can take that final step into the Premier League.”

Jansson formed a solid central defensive partnership with Kyle Bartley at Elland Road last season, but there is a possibility that Leeds could be without both next season.

Bartley had only joined the club on loan, and returns to parent club Swansea with no news of a permanent deal, meaning a departure for Jansson could see Leeds starting from scratch at the back.

But Leeds fans will be hoping to see Jansson honour his commitment to the club, having already agreed to join on a long-term contract.
