Turkish outfit Goztepe are eyeing a summer swoop for Aston Villa flop Libor Kozak, according to a Fotospor report.

The Turkish media outlet claim the newly promoted Super Lig side are preparing a two-year contract offer for Kozak, who will be a free agent when his current deal at Villa expires at the end of the month.

The 28-year-old striker was one of 10 players to receive the axe from Villa’s squad when the club released its retained list earlier this week.

Kozak arrived at Villa Park in the summer of 2013 in a £5.5million switch from Lazio, but a string of injuries have meant he has failed to make any sort of impact at the club.

The Czech international made just 22 appearances in all competitions during his four seasons at the club, and he only scored four goals.

His 2016-17 campaign was particularly disappointing as he featured on just two occasions for the first team, as an ankle injury ravaged his season.

However, he did impress in the Under-23s last term, scoring five goals in four games, including a hat-trick against Newcastle.

Kozak has been capped by the Czech Republic on seven occasions, but he has not featured since the 2-0 friendly win over Canada in November 2013.
