Aston Villa have confirmed 10 players will leave the club this summer.

The Birmingham giants have submitted their retained list to the EFL and the following players’ names were not included: Johan Abdoul, Jerell Sellars, Joonas Sundman, Rory Hale, Tom Leggett, Joe Linley, Niall Mason, Henry Cowans, Riccardo Calder and Libor Kozak.

Kozak is the only player to have been an active part of the first team at Villa, while the other nine players were all mainly in the Under-23s set-up.

The Czech striker spent four years at Villa Park after a £5million move from Lazio in 2013, but injuries blighted his time there and he only made 22 appearances in all competitions for the club.

Meanwhile, youngsters Abdoul, Sellars, Sundman, Hale, Leggett and Linley have all confirmed their own departures on their personal social media profiles over the past few weeks.

All six players had been part of the Under-23s side last season, but none did enough to earn themselves a new deal after failing to break into Villa manager Steve Bruce’s first-team plans.

Meanwhile, a Birmingham Mail report states Mason is set to move to Doncaster Rovers on a permanent deal, after spending last season on loan there.

Cowans and Calder have also been released, as they failed to impress while on loan at Stevenage and Lincoln City respectively.
