Scottish Premier League champions Celtic are keeping close tabs on Burton Albion defender Ryan Delaney, according to the Irish Independent.

The newspaper claims that the 20-year-old is attracting interest from a number of British clubs and Celtic are monitoring his situation.

Delaney is currently enjoying a season long loan spell with League of Ireland side Cork City, who are top of the table, 17 points ahead of second-placed Dundalk.

The report claims that Cork are also interested in signing the defender on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

The runaway league leaders are set to lose key members of the squad in the summer and they desperately want to keep Delaney at the club and they are looking for a solution on the matter before July.

The youngster has been producing fantastic performances throughout the campaign, making 17 appearances and scoring five goals in all competitions.

The defender signed for Championship side Burton from League of Ireland side Wexford ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.

Delaney has still not made a first-team appearance for Burton and he joined Cork during the 2017 January transfer window.

The youngster’s contract with Burton expires at the end of next season which implies that Celtic will not need spend big money in order to land Delaney this summer.
