Arsenal target Emil Forsberg has hinted he may be interested in a move to AC Milan this summer.

The Mirror newspaper had previously claimed Arsenal were weighing up a swoop for the 25-year-old RB Leipzig star this summer as manager Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options.

However, Forsberg’s recent comments will come as a blow to the North London club as he seems to be angling for a move to Italy with AC Milan.

Speaking to Swedish media outlet Aftonbladet, he said: “[Milan] is a fantastic, big club. It is an interesting project, making investments and wanting to take back the throne again.

“[The Champions League] is not a major factor for me. In the end it’s only about football. I want to have an important role in the team, but I’ll see – my agent takes care of all that.”

This comes after Forsberg’s agent Hasan Cetinkaya hinted that his client would be open to a move to one of Europe’s top clubs this summer.

The left-sided attacker was one of Leipzig’s top performers last term, scoring eight goals in 30 Bundesliga appearances, as well as providing 22 assists.

His efforts helped the club finish second in the German top-flight just a year after earning promotion into the division.

The 25-year-old joined Leipzig from Swedish outfit Malmo in January of 2015, and he has since played 80 league and cup games for the club, which have yielded 16 goals and 33 assists.

Forsberg has been capped by Sweden on 25 occasions, his last appearance coming on Friday night in a 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over France.
