Aston Villa are interested in signing Bristol City defender Aden Flint during the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the 27-year-old could be on his way out of the Championship side this summer with Bristol City willing to listen offers for the central defender.

The report claims that the club value the defender at £4million.

Villa will face competition from several Championship clubs who are also interested in landing Flint, including Fulham and Middlesborough.

Flint is not the only defender who is attracting interest from Villa manager Steve Bruce as the Telegraph recently reported that the club have offered former Chelsea captain John Terry a lucrative contract.

Bristol City signed Flint at the start of the 2013-14 season and he has since become an integral part of the squad.

The following season, the central defender played a crucial role in helping the club secure promotion straight back to the Championship.

Flint earned the reputation of being a goalscoring defender as he contributed with 14 league goals that season, just three behind the club’s top goalscorer Aaron Wilbraham.

The defender has continued to make the contribute in the Championship, notching up 11 goals over the last two seasons.

Flint’s current contract with Bristol City expires in 2020.
