Aston Villa have made a concrete offer to former Chelsea captain John Terry, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that the Championship side have submitted a contract proposal to the 36-year-old which is understood to be worth a total of £4million a year, and the defender is seriously considering the offer.

Terry is currently available on a free transfer this summer after he decided to end his 22-year stint at Stamford Bridge.

The report claims that Terry has been presented with a total of ten realistic offers from a number of football clubs around the world including Premier League sides Bournemouth, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City.

Championship side Birmingham City along with clubs in China and the MLS are also interested but the it is reported that Villa have taken a significant step over the last 24 hours in their bid to sign Terry this summer.

It is understood that the central defender is willing to drop down a division and experience Championship football for the first time in his career.

The Telegraph reports that the defender is set to make a decision on his future within the next two weeks.

Terry has been one of the best defenders of his generation and he has lifted many important trophies throughout his playing career including the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
