West Ham have turned down a transfer offer from Mexican side Tigres for out of favour striker Enner Valencia, according to a report from Sky Sports.

Sky Sports News HQ claim on their website that while the Hammers rejected the bid, they are hopeful that a deal can be agreed to offload the 27-year-old this summer.

The 38-time-capped Ecuador international, who has netted 20 goals for his country, has been told he is surplus to requirements at the East London club, and is widely expected to return to Mexico this summer, three years after he joined the Hammers from Pachuca for £12.5million.

In 66 appearances for West Ham, the versatile attacker managed to score just 10 goals, before being shipped out on loan to fellow Premier League side Everton for almost the entirety of last season, having appeared in the opening three games for Slaven Bilic’s side.

It was a far cry from the sort of performances which convinced the Hammers to splash the cash on him, with the 27-year-old having hit 18 goals in just 23 appearances for Pachuca.

However, Valencia was unable to rediscover his fine form while on Merseyside, as he netted just three times in 23 appearances, as the Toffees decided not to turn his loan move into a permanent one at the end of the deal.
