If Koeman truly wants to invest in the future at the back, then he should turn to Kjaer’s international team mate Jannik Vestergaard. At just 24-years-old, the 6’5″ defender has established himself as a key player for both Borussia Monchengladbach and Denmark.
With 14 caps to his name and Champions League experience under his belt, the former Werder Bremen man would be an imposing figure to Premier League attackers, and would dominate the box with his strength and height.
Contracted at Monchengladbach until 2021, the Toffees may face a fight in prying him away from the German side, but with the Toffees investment this summer, plus the opportunity to play in England, they should have no trouble in convincing the player of the move.
