Rangers would add even more fire to the Old Firm rivalry with Celtic by signing Hoops trialist and Brendan Rodgers’ son Anton this summer.

Anton, 24, is currently out of contract with English side Swindon Town, who suffered relegation to the fourth tier of the Football League in May following a dismal season at the County Ground.

The Daily Record claims manager Rodgers is not interested in signing his son and has only taken him on loan at Parkhead to keep his fitness up while he looks for a new club.

Rangers could be that new club, as Pedro Caixinha looks to add to his eight signings of Bruno Alves, Fabio Cardoso, Ryan Jack, Carlos Pena, Daniel Candeias, Dalcio, Eduardo Herrera and Alfredo Morelos.

This Is FutbolĀ believes Rangers must sign Rodgers to spark the rivalry between the two sides in a move that could help the Gers close the 39-point gap that separated the rivals last season, for these three reasons.
