Newcastle should forget about plans to extend Yoann Gouffran’s stay at St. James’ Park and instead chance their arm on Rangers attacker Barrie McKay.
The Evening Chronicle revealed that the Toon are waiting to hear from Frenchman Gouffran over a decision after handing him a Premier League lifeline to stay with the north east outfit following their promotion.
However, Gouffran was inconsistent during the 2016-17 and managed to score only seven goals in a side that enjoyed total domination of the majority of their outings throughout the promotion-winning campaign.
In quotes published by the Daily Record, Caixinha threw even more doubt on McKay’s future by saying that he would not be involved in Thursday’s Europa League clash against Progres: “The list is already out so I think he is not in the squad for tomorrow”.
