It has been confirmed that new Rangers signing Daniel Candeias will feature in Pedro Caixinha’s squad for the Europa League tie against Progres Niederkorn on Thursday.

Gers revealed the addition of Candeias to the team sheet on the club’s official Twitter account on Wednesday evening and stated that the Ibrox boss had added the Portuguese international to the squad.

The 29-year-old had been expected to miss out on the first round qualifier after Caixinha revealed that the midfielders former club Alanyaspor wouldn’t release him until July 1.

Rangers will host Luxembourg club Progres Niederkorn in the first qualifying round of the Europa League and Thursday’s match will symbolise the club’s first European game in six years.

The former Benfica player will now go on to make his debut this week alongside fellow newcomers Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera, and Alfredo Morelos.

Candeias was said to be excited about playing in the competition as his last experience in the Europa League was almost six years ago during the 2011/12 season when he made six appearances for his former club CD Nacional.

Caixinha will be relieved to feature the Portuguese star in the squad in order see how he performs within his newly formed team ahead of the 2017/18 season.
