Manager Pedro Caixinha has told that he plans to use Rangers’ Tuesday signing Dalcio as a winger.

The 21-year-old completed a move to Ibrox on Tuesday afternoon, completing a loan move from Portuguese giants Benfica.

He is known to be able to play both centrally and out wide with the youngster not yet cementing a position as he looks to progress up the Benfica ranks.

But, Caixinha himself has told Rangers fans that he sees Dalcio as more of a winger and has informed wondering supporters that he will use the youngster in the “wide areas.”

“I bring him here to play him more in the wide areas and more as a winger. If he plays on the left his style of play is different and his relationship with the full-back is also different,” told Caixinha, as quoted by the official Rangers website.

“I have followed him in Portugal, I am very close friends with his previous coach at Benfica B, Hélder Cristóvão who was a fantastic centre-half for Portugal and Benfica – so I know everything about the player.

“We are counting on him, of course he needs all the support especially in these early moments because everything is new for him but he is highly motivated to deliver, drive and cope with this massive club.”

Caixinha is also looking to make big changes to the centre of his team this window and he has already signed Ryan Jack on a free transfer from Aberdeen, while Mexico international Carlos Pena is reportedly waiting on a work permit to be issued before he can be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the wing positions for Rangers also came under heavy criticism in the last campaign with the likes of Martyn Waghorn, Josh Windass and Barrie McKay all struggling to influence the games in the wide attacking areas.

Gers fans will now be hoping Dalcio can perform for the team as they look to improve their third placing while also embarking on a Europa League run next season.
