Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has revealed that the club’s new signing Alfredo Morelos is a player that can play in “several” positions in the attack.

The Glasgow giants confirmed on their website on Monday that the 20-year-old forward has penned a three-deal with the club after moving from HJK Helsinki.

Caixinha believes the Gers’ new addition can play as a number nine, second striker, a double nine and as a wide player.

During his time with Finnish side Helsinki, who he helped to the top of the table after 14 matches, Morelos played all his games in a forward role, scoring 20 goals from 25 matches in all competitions, including 11 strikes in the league.

Now, Caixinha will be hoping the highly-rated youngster can bring that success to Ibrox and the Scottish Premiership.

“He is a player who can act in several positions in the attack,” Caixinha told the club’s official website. “He can play alone as number nine, he can play as the second striker, he can play as a double nine and he can also play in the wide areas.”

Rangers have been very busy in the transfer market this summer, signing six players, with the SPL season set to kick off in August.

One of the main reasons behind the club overhauling the squad is because of their poor performances in the league last term.

The Gers, who were promoted to the top tier under Mark Warburton last summer, were expected to challenge Celtic for the title but instead, they had to settle for a third-place finish.

Added to that, second-placed Aberdeen, who were nine points clear of them, produced a better campaign than the Glasgow club, with manager Derek McIness playing a big part in their success.
